Rifle Skills Day - EGWAN

10 women attended the Rifle Skills Day at the Buchan Rifle Range on the 13th of June 2024. The Buchan Rifle Range supplied 3 dedicated members as safety officers and trainers. Andrew from Gunsport Trading Bairnsdale and future Olympian Darcie Morton also attended to assist in the training. It was a fantastic day and all the participants left with big smiles.

This event was another East Gippsland Women in Agriculture Network initiative from the black summer fires. While the women used rifles on farms, the importance of this skill was highlighted post-fire. To increase the women’s confidence and ensure that they are using rifles safely the EGWAN Steering Committee decided a day on Rifle Skills should be held. Buchan Rifle Range was excited to host them. Other Rifle Skill Days will be held including a firearm cleaning and maintenance day.

This day was possible due to the support of the East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority through funding from the Connect Well Program, the Victorian Government of Health, and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
