Local girl Kathy Gabriel is an adventurous soul who can tell a great story and take a magnificent photo and she has just returned from her latest adventure and is coming to Wairewa to tell us all about it.
Twice now Kathy has ridden the Mongol Derby https://equestrianists.com/guides/mongol-derby-more-details/ the toughest and longest horse race in the world across the wilds of Mongolia.
This led to her latest adventure, the Gaucho Derby https://equestrianists.com/gaucho-derby/, where Kathy was asked to be the horse-mounted photographer for the epic 10-day horse race across the wilds of Patagonia.
While in that part of the world, Kathy also rode into the far north of Mongolia to live the traditional life with the nomadic reindeer herders.
